COUPLE MAKES PLANNED GIFT THROUGH FAMILY TRUST TO SUPPORT BOK’S FUTURE

Rhonda Lindon-Hammon was first introduced to Bok Tower Gardens by her mother who had a winter residence in Avon Park. “Every time I visited her, we would go to the Gardens,” Rhonda recalls. Her connection with this place began long before she was married to her husband of 28 years, John. “When he joined the family, we started bringing him too.”
After years of volunteering and support, the couple has named Bok as a percentage beneficiary of a family trust. “We always try to give back to the organizations we believe in,” John says. “We believe in Bok Tower Gardens. We’ve watched it grow, and we want to help it continue to grow. We’ve been blessed, and we want to pass along those blessings.”
In her volunteer work, Rhonda enjoyed learning about our founder Edward Bok and the commitment of the staff to make the world better and more beautiful. “The more I learned, the more I wanted to be a part of paying it forward,” she says. “It is a sense of belonging for me. Every time I see ‘you belong here’ at the entrance gate, I remember that my values align with this place: peace, nature, gardening, and education. I am inspired by Edward Bok’s generosity. He did so much for his community.”
The couple hopes others will join them in making a planned gift to support Bok’s future.
“Ultimately, we want to help the Gardens grow,” John says. “We want to contribute to keeping it beautiful for generations to come, building on the legacy Bok dreamed of by making a sanctuary for the birds and humans alike.”
“Edward Bok said that there are three phases of your life: education, achievement, and service,” Rhonda concludes. “We have chosen this gift as an act of service to the Gardens and to all who will visit. We encourage all members and volunteers to join us in making this type of gift. Together we can deepen the impact and make a difference forever.”
